Born and raised a Mets fan, always a Mets fan. Sure, I rooted for the Marlins in 1997 and 2003, but I can still remember crying when the Mets traded Tom Seaver. (It was a traumatic time for a young Dave.) For some reason, I've had some sixth sense about bad Mets trades and Free Agent signings ever since. This one sure does look bad on paper.

From the article:
"Away from batter-friendly Coors Field Torrealba hit .212 with two homers and 13 RBIs."
How is that going to play in the final year at Shea Stadium, or for that matter the new Citi Field, which is touted as a "pitcher's park."

The Mets deal of 3 years/$14.4m seems like overpaying when the top two offers to beat were similar 2 year/$7m deals from the Rockies and the Marlins.
